TRICK
Mom: Mary, John, I'm going shopping. So keep the room clean.
John & Mary: OK, Mom. Let's clean.
Mary: Woops! I dropped something. Oh, no! It's Mom's perfume! My goodness!
John: What's happened? Oh, something is spilt around! ... A, ha... It's Mom's FAVORITE perfume!
Mary: I don't know how to do it. Oh, my god ....
Mary is going to cry.
John: Wait. Don't cry. Hey! I have a good idea.
Mary: What is it?
John: Let's stuff this bottle vinegar. Vinegar looks like perfume, so that's all right.
Mary: Oh, that's a good idea. Let's do it.
(After a few days.)
Mom: John, Mary, I'll go to Dad's company's party. So please take care. Dinner is on the table. Oh, yes, I'll put the perfume! Where is it?
John: This is a bad situation.
Mom: PERFUME, PERFUME,.... Hmm,.... Waaaaa! It's,... it's VINEGAR! Mary, John! Come here!
John: Mary, let's run away!

A Fan
(In Tom's room.)
Bem: Wow, it's too hot, isn't it?
Megu: Yeah.
Tami: Shall I bring fans?
Mem & Megu: That's a great idea.
Tami: O.K. I'll take three.
Mem: What? Three?
Tami: Yes, because one, two, three. Three persons are here.
Megu: O.K. Please.
Tami: Here you are.
Bem: What?
Megu: Have you brought a fan?
Tami: Yes, because you said "fan".
Bem: Yes, you're right.
Megu: Anyway a fan makes us cooler.
Bem: Maybe. It's cool, isn't it?
Megu: That's right.
Tami: But, is it anything wrong?
Megu: Yes, somewhere hot.(it's hot somewhere.)
Bem: Oh.
Megu & Tami: What?
Bem: There is no wind to the hand having the fan. That's why it's still hot.
Megu: You are clever.
Tami: I'll bring a "fan" next.
All: Wow, it's cool.

A Ghost
Yuki: I'm excited by walking in the grave yard at night.
Kate: Really? I'm very scared now. By the way, whose idea is this?
Ayumi: It's mine. I want to test your courage.
Kate: How many people took part in this event?
Ayumi: Well, about thirty. Now, (the) next is Kate and Yuki. Take care!
(Yuki and Kate come back.)
Yuki: It was very fearful!
Kate: You're quite right. Especially that ghost was very real.
Yuki: Yes. I can't think that was a fake.
Ayumi: Really? What was it?
Kate: It had a long neck.
Ayumi: (A) Long neck? Are you kidding? I didn't prepare that kind of ghost!
Kate: That can't be. We saw that!
Yuki: Well..., that was a real ghost?
All: Wow!!

This Is Worthless And Poor Taste?
(Mariko and Soware are speaking(talking) on the sofa in the living room.)
Mariko: You look sad. What's the matter?
Soware: Um.... I think your grandmother doesn't like me.
Mariko: Why? She always says Soware is a good girl.
Soware: Certainly. She often gives me so many things. She gave me some omanju again yesterday. But she said as usual, "This is worthless, but please, please."
(Just then Yone enters.)
Yone: Hello, Soware.
Soware: Hello, Obachan. Thank you for the omanju. They were very delicious.
Yone: Thank you. That was poor taste.
Soware: Um?? She doesn't like me just as I thought.
Mariko: Oh, no! This is Japanese polite form. Especially old Japanese people say that out of modesty. It means that this is nothing special but I hope you like it. She likes you very much. She studied English hard (and) secretly for you.
Soware: Oh, I see. Lovely Yone Obachan!

Careless
(At the school.)
Nami: You have a nice racket!
Maki: Thank you. It's a new one.
Nami: Oh, I envy you. I want a new racket, too.
Ai: Hi. What are you talking about?
Maki: Rackets.
Ai: Good. I want to take a rocket.
Nami: Take a racket?
Ai: Yes. I want to go to space.
Maki: No, no! We are talking about RACKETS. Tennis rackets.
Ai: You are a very careless girl.
Maki: But I have a model rocket. Can you come today?
Ai: I'm free today. Sure. Let's meet at the bank near my house.
Nami & Ai: O.K.
Nami: Megumi. You must be less careless next time.
All: See you then.
(At the bank.)
Nami: She is very late.
Maki: I think so, too.
(After a while)
Ai: Nami! Maki! Why? I went to the bank, but you didn't wait there.
Nami: & Miki: No! (The) bank is near the river!

Homework
(Ring,...ring,...)
Anne: Hello.
Hanako: Hello. This is Hanako.
Anne: Oh, Hanako!
Hanako: It's very hot today. Now, how about going to the swimming pool?
Anne: Oh, I'm sorry. I can't go.
Hanako: Why?
Anne: Because,... I haven't finished my homework for (the) summer vacation yet. I'm doing it with Kyoko now. Just a minute.
Kyoko: Hi, Hanako. Today is August 31! Are you free now?
Hanako: Yes, I am. I (have) finished all my homework.
Kyoko: Really? That's great! Did you finish your homework of Japanese, English, social studies and math? Oh, that's very great!
Hanako: .... What? Homework of math? What's that? Is it (the) homework for (the) summer vacation?
Kyoko: Of course. It was difficult for me. It took me three days.
Hanako: ....
Kyoko: What's the matter?
Hanako: Oh, dear! I forgot it! I must do it at once! Good bye!
